Broughton Hall High School - One Heart, One Mind
The 2016 EYPUK North West Forum took place on Wednesday 24th February, 2016, in the Debating Chambers at Liverpool Town Hall. Over 90 students from 10 schools across the region were welcomed to the event by the Lord Mayor, Tony Conception. During the day the students were involved in passionately debating and sharing their opinions on a wide range of current European issues from asylum seekers, terrorists to the Greek crisis and the TTIP (Transatlantic, Trade and Investment Partnership). All the students were excellently prepared and arguments proved to be well balanced and diplomatic. Broughton Hall who represented AFET (Committee for Foreign Affairs) were successful in their lead debate in opposing the Resolution on the Greek Debt crisis.

The final debate on climate change was discussed in a number of foreign languages, accents and dialect, including French, Spanish, German, Russian, Malayalam and Arabic, as well as Gaelic, Welsh and Scouse. The students are all to be commended for their confidence throughout the day, particularly when voicing eloquent arguments in a foreign language.

The day proved to be positive, friendly and thought provoking and congratulations must go to the EUYP organisers, Caitlin Sullivan & Oliver Graham, Jeff Dunn, Schools' Parliament and EUYP Trustee, the Judges, and to all the pupils and teachers involved.
