Update 2nd July 2020 - Free School Meals - Summer Vouchers

Dear Parents/ carers

You may have heard the government talk about the Summer Food Fund to support families who are entitled to free school meals. The government recognise the increased pressure that families are facing due to the unprecedented nature of COVID-19. The Summer Food Fund will enable children who are eligible for benefit related free school meals to be supported over the summer holiday period.

We have been waiting for the details surrounding the scheme and the government have now advised that it will be supported by the national voucher scheme. The Summer Food Fund will support each eligible pupil with a £90.00 to cover the 6 -week summer holiday period.

We are in the process of ordering your the vouchers and these will distributed in the same way as you currently receive you weekly voucher. If this is via email, you will received your summer food voucher by email (the anticipated date of delivery is the 13th July, but as it is processed by centrally, it could be any time during the last week of term), and if a paper voucher is delivered, you will receive an additional £90.00 voucher in the last week of term.

The voucher does not need to be spent in full, in one transaction. To check how much is left on the voucher, you can ask the supermarkets customer service team when in the store.

Free School Meals

If your daughter is entitled to free school meals the way the voucher system is changing. You will have been receiving correspondence over the last week and we are pleased to advise the glitches experienced in the national scheme seem to have been fixed. As a result, the Liverpool City Council voucher system will end this week. We have requested for the £15 e-code to be delivered directly to your email address, or for a few families who have requested it, or where we do not hold a valid email address, a paper voucher will be issued. You should receive this on Monday 27th April, and each Monday that school is closed.

For those receiving an e-code, you will receive an email from noreply@edenred.com with the 16 digit e-code (please check your junk email too). You will then need to logon to www.freeschoolmeals.co.uk to redeem the code into a voucher for your chosen supermarket. This voucher is then emailed to you and you can print off or take on your mobile to spend in store (some can be spent online too).

The paper vouchers just need to be taken into the supermarket and redeemed against your shopping bill.
