At Broughton Hall political literacy is taken very seriously. On Thursday 8th June, we held our own Broughton Hall General Election. Pupils were briefed during an extended registration time and watched a campaign video prepared by Y9 and 10 students with the support of Mr Narey, Mr Mangan and Mr Regan. All students were then invited to cast their vote. Elected School Councillors then did the official count. The final results are as follows:

This process links into the British Values agenda and builds on the successful EU Referendum we held last year.  It is important that our pupils are politically literate and know how to engage with the democratic process to enable them to take an active role as adults in our society.
