Peri Profiles

 

Peri Title 1
Aimee Harris is a singer, violinist, clarinettist and pianist and has been teaching music for 8 years.  Aimee studied music from a young age and reached grade 8 ABRSM singing before heading to university and gaining undergraduate and masters degrees in performance and musicology from the University of Liverpool.  Through the years she has performed in many notable concert venues around the UK and abroad.

Aimee has performed in a number of exciting concerts such as the concert premier of Adiemus Colores by Karl Jenkins, in Llangollen International Eisteddfodd and a number of Operas including last year’s concert performance of Carmen in Llangollen with the Welsh National Opera Orchestra and Llangollen singers.  She is a soprano in the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir, a member of Liverpool Chamber Choir and a regular performer called upon to sing in Cathedrals around the UK and in Llangollen International Eistedfodd concerts.

As well as performing as a soloist and chorus member, Aimee has been co-musical director, composer, and performer for MATE productions for four years. Some of the most recent shows include A Midsummer Night’s Dream and As You Like It, The Tempest and Treasure Island, all featuring original music written by Aimee and produced in conjunction with Shakespeare North and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

As a teacher, Aimee leads choirs and has had many students taking exams across a variety of exam boards from initial/prep test up to diploma level, as well as helping students to prepare for GCSE, B-Tech and A-level performances.

Peri title 2
Chris studied Music at Liverpool Hope, specialising in Performance gaining a 2:1.  His first instrument is clarinet but he also plays and teaches saxophone, flute and oboe. Chris has taught in schools all over Merseyside for 24 years and has been teaching at Broughton Hall for 21 years. Chris has led many ensembles during that time, including Woodwind Group and Celebration Group, as well as rehearsing and conducting pit bands for school productions. Chris has also worked with the Liverpool Youth Orchestra, conducting concerts at St George's Hall and The Philharmonic Hall, as well as accompanying students on concert tours of Europe, most recently conducting Resonate's Senior Wind Band for concerts in Northern France. Over the years, away from teaching, Chris has performed in various different music groups, playing saxophone and clarinet in swing and function bands, as well as bass guitar and drums in rock bands and musical theatre productions throughout the North West and at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

 
 

Peri title 3
Claire Jones started playing piano by ear at 5 or 6 years old and began lessons at the age of 9. After taking GCSEs and A levels in both music and drama she went on to study a combined BA Honours degree in Music and Drama at Liverpool Hope University, specialising in Piano performance. After graduating she studied at Hope Street actors centre in Liverpool where she secured a job with a Theatre Company and toured with them to various parts of the world for seven years combining both music and acting skills. She has taught piano across Liverpool now for the last twelve years. She can additionally play cello, ukulele and also sings. She runs a community choir and regularly records and performs in various musical outfits.

Peri title 4
Richie studied Music at Liverpool Community College and Liverpool Hope University.  Richie has worked at Broughton Hall for 15 years during which he has prepared students for GSCE and A Level performance as well as graded drum examinations. Outside of teaching he is always busy performing with a number of bands and solo artists across the country.

 

 
Peri title 5

Sean Sweeney is a professional guitar teacher. Although he teaches guitar he also teaches trumpet, vocals, piano, drums and theory to grade 8 standard. Sean has been teaching for 2 years around Liverpool privately and through music schools such as Presto Music and Learn Music Ltd.  Sean has achieved distinction in grade 8 trumpet and voice as well as triple distinction stars in Music HNC and is currently studying to complete his degree in Music. Sean is also a live sound engineer for live music venues around Liverpool and performs as a soloist around Europe in a wedding guitar duo. He has also performed in a number of Shakespeare productions with MATE productions, in association with Shakespeare North.
